Why did my Direct Debit not go through when I have enough money in my account?

It might be because your Direct Debit has expired.

You’ll need to check with your bank or building society to see if the Direct Debit instruction is still active. If it isn’t, it’s easy to set up a new one in your app.

All banks and building societies keep details of Direct Debit instructions for a minimum of 24 months (36 months for Barclays customers paying their Barclaycard), or from the date of the last payment. 

After this, banks remove them so they’re not keeping Direct Debit instructions indefinitely.
