How to get a Premier account
To be eligible for Premier Banking, you’ll need to open a Premier Current Account and either
- Pay in a gross annual income of at least £75,000
Or
- Have a total balance of at least £100,000 in savings with us, in Barclays UK investments – or in a mix of both
If your payments or balances drop below what you need to stay with Premier, we’ll let you know.
How to apply
The quickest way to open a sole Premier Current Account is to download and register for the Barclays app, then start your application in that. If we accept your application, you can start using your account in the app straight away.
If you already bank with us, log in to the app, go to ‘Products’ and then select ‘Premier Banking’ to upgrade or book a telephone appointment with one of our dedicated Financial Guides.

Premier Banking
With a Premier Current Account, you can enjoy a range of benefits, including

How to register for the Barclays app and Online Banking
With Premier, you can use both the Barclays app and Online Banking to view and manage your accounts.
Registering for the app
To register for our app, you'll need
- A current account with us
- Your debit card and PIN
- Your mobile phone number
- An Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, or an Android mobile device
- The app installed on your device
- To follow the step-by-step guidance in the app – we’ve linked to a demonstration video below
You must be 16 or over and have an eligible product or account to use the Barclays app. Terms and conditions apply. The Barclays app only works with Android 8.0 and above, iOS 15 and above. Your service provider may charge for internet access from your phone.

If you get an error code during the registration process, please use our error code tool to get help with the most common errors you might see in the app and Online Banking.
Registering for Online Banking
To register for Online Banking, visit barclays.co.uk and click on the ‘Register’ button in the top-right corner of the screen. You can also register here now. You'll then need to follow the instructions on the page.
You’ll need to enter some personal information such as your
- Name and date of birth
- Postcode
- Email address
- Account number and sort code (shown on your debit card, cheque/paying-in book or bank statement) and card number (the 16-digit number on the front of your debit card)
Once you’ve registered, you can log in as soon as you receive your passcode, which we’ll post to your home address within five working days.
