Question 1 of 8 about Making and receiving international payments
Receiving money from abroad
Before you can receive an international payment, you'll need to give the sender some details, including:
- Your international bank account number (IBAN). You can find this on your statement or by selecting the relevant bank account from your app home page and tapping 'Manage'
- Your sort code and account number
- Barclays SWIFT code BUKBGB22 – unless you’ve given your IBAN
- Your full name
- Your address
- The amount and the currency you’d like to receive the payment in.
You'll also need to agree with the sender who's going to pay the charges.
Receiving a SEPA credit transfer
SEPA credit transfers are a type of international payment in euros from countries across Europe. To receive a SEPA payment, you'll just need to give the sender your IBAN and full name of the account.
Receiving payments in US dollars
You might be asked for details of who we hold accounts with in the USA, as well as the American Bankers Association (ABA) code. This is equivalent to a UK sort code and is also known as the Fedwire number.
Barclays Bank UK’s PLC US dollar account is held with Barclays Bank PLC, New York, and the ABA code is 026002574.
