Unlocking your app with your face or fingerprint
To use your face or fingerprint to log in to the Barclays app:
- Check if you have the latest version of your device operating system. You can update this in your device settings
- Within your device settings, you can then add your face or fingerprint details
- Open the Barclays app and select ‘More’ from the home screen
- Go to ‘Settings’, then ‘Log-in and security’ to tell us how you’d like to log in.
For your security, make sure you only register your own biometrics, such as your face or fingerprints on your devices. We consider any transactions made using your biometrics as authorised by you.
For your security, we’ll sometimes ask you to enter your 5-digit passcode even though you’ve set up biometric log-in. Once you’ve switched this on, you’ll still be able to use your 5-digit passcode to log in to the Barclays app if you choose. To do this, select ‘Cancel’ when asked to authenticate using your face or fingerprint.
If we think biometric settings on your device have changed, we may ask you to set up your biometric log in again. This helps keep your account safe.
We have no access to any images of your face or your fingerprints. We only know if your device has successfully used them to identify you.
If you no longer want to use your face or fingerprint to unlock your app, you can switch the relevant option off by going to ‘Settings’ in your app.
