Creating opportunities for all

We’re the largest supporter of the Wimbledon Foundation, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

Our contribution supports two programmes: the Wimbledon Foundation’s Set for Success programme in the UK, and Barclays Net Work supported by Wimbledon in the US. They both aim to create opportunities for young people by using the power of sport.

In the UK, the Wimbledon Foundation’s flagship national Set for Success programme, delivered by Youth Sport Trust, heads into schools to improve the attitudes and skills of young people most at risk of NEET (not in employment, education or training). The initiative is delivered over two years and uses mentoring sessions from inspirational athletes to give 13 to 16-year olds from underserved communities the tools to develop valuable life and leadership skills.

The programme is currently in 42 schools in the UK. We’re hoping to expand that to 150 schools and up to 3,900 young people over the next four years.

Our tennis ambassador

Beyond the Foundation, we’re delighted that sporting star Frances Tiafoe is our Official Tennis Ambassador. Tiafoe’s knowledge, tenacity and passion for the game make him the perfect match to help us create opportunities through sport.

He says:

“I’m thrilled to be working with Barclays to help change the lives of young people who typically wouldn’t have the opportunity to experience the game of tennis. Growing up, playing at Wimbledon was my dream, so to be an ambassador for Barclays, the new Banking Partner for Wimbledon, is very special.”
